About Services

As you move in the process of learning transparency and self-disclosure, I want to ensure that I am being just as transparent about services with you. Any additional questions may be asked at the time of consultation.  Please, bring your questions and concerns for me to answer.

I will always encourage you to interview your providers to ensure they are the best match for you—and that includes me!

Telehealth

Tele-health services, also known as E(electronic) therapy or online therapy, is a way to receive counseling services without the need to travel into an office. As an LPC of Missouri, I am able to see you anywhere, as long as you are physically within the Missouri state border and you have access to a stable internet connection.

I use a secure connection through Simple Practice which maintains strict HIPPA compliance and is also HITRUST certified (this is the gold standard for the health care industry). Simple Practice can be opened on a computer with webcam and microphone capabilities or downloaded as an app to your phone/tablet.

There are times when online therapy is not an appropriate option, and we will discuss this during our initial consultation.

Frequency

All sessions are typically 45-50 minutes in length.

Most sessions will take place once a week; however, this determination is made from the initial intake session. It is recommended that clients attend sessions every week in the beginning of treatment, for the first 2 months, to build rapport with their therapist and to be given adequate support in beginning treatment.

If an individual adequately invests in their mental wellness initially, they will often see faster results overall. By attending weekly appointments, you will be able to learn skills to impact your daily life that you can start applying throughout the week. If there is a skill that is not useful or a tool that is not working for you, we want to be able to address it early in the process to prevent lost time.

The idea of discussing emotional challenges or uncomfortable thoughts may cause some anxiety, or the process of finding a therapist may seem confusing and unfamiliar. This is your opportunity to ask any counseling-related question to help you make an informed decision about therapy. This includes helping you to determine whether I am the right counselor for you.
